Pilot: 1 on 1
- Youth Ambassador strategy – We can use the first part of the call to check in on your progress and work on any implementation challenges you might have.
- Chelisa had the children create a small scene of characters using pre-generated avatars representing relationships
- She shared the scenarios with her group and asked them to decide if the scenarios depicted unhealthy, healthy, or abusive relationships
- Thomas’ strategy on alcohol
- Children were kept engaged and had fun with his newest activity.
- He runs this with another coworker
- Survey updates
- Satisfaction survey was not sent out yet. Will go out with next cohort of students.
- Next, I was hoping we could get your feedback on your experiences in the CQI pilot. Here are the questions we’ll be asking:
- What were your CQI efforts like prior to the pilot?
- Nola talked previously about a more formal structure they used that would cause lots of feedback loops. Many meetings would occur without proper tracking of progress too. They did say they had made progress before this but they have a much better focus on collecting data now from the CQI meetings.
- How has the pilot helped you to improve/refine CQI processes internally? How often did you use the template? Was it helpful and do you have any suggestions for improvement?
- The concept of CQI really became front and center for them with this effort. Especially with the use of the tools that were provided. They were able to think about ways to track their results and create better ways to collect data from their cohorts. They did admit that they did not use the tools as much as they wanted to. They want to take parts from this initiative and incorporate it with their programming rather than strictly use our format.
- Suggestions for improvement: too much information to disseminate. It would be better to break it up and have it in different parts rather than one giant document. They have a lot of work to do already and when they see the CQI form they feel overwhelmed with all the questions. Instead, they were trying to integrate the concepts/tasks in the form into their own work rather than use the form itself.
- What parts of the CQI cycle in the template resonated with you and which felt less practical or relevant?
- The data collection formation and tracking sections helped them think about their current methods and how they can improve their systems. They had reported problems with this in the past and with the CQI template they were able to incorporate some ideas to enhance their data capabilities.
- How helpful were the cross-grantee and one-on-one coaching calls in advancing your CQI efforts?
- Biweekly worked well. They did not like when there were two meetings in one day. Weekly would have been too much and they are already full with other work.
- They preferred the one-on-one calls much more than the group calls. The monthly calls would have been more beneficial if the focus was more on learning from other grantees. The larger calls should have been geared towards learning from the rest of the group rather than the next set of content. They did say a major benefit of the monthly calls though was getting a better understanding of the instruments.
- Information overload. Too much input from all the groups. Should concentrate on one or two groups then provide feedback and continue discussion from there.
- Focused too much on the “what is the cause” issues and not enough on the “how to” solutions/ideas.
- In larger groups, the open discussions were limited because people did not want to share as much. Smaller groups were better because it removes that hesitation and more people feel comfortable speaking out.
- A suggestion brought up was making a monthly meeting focused solely on one topic rather than bringing up an entire section.
- What were your CQI efforts like prior to the pilot?
- Confirm participation in final cross grantee call – Lastly, there is an opportunity for you present in the final group call (June 28 at 3pm CT). You’ve made great progress on developing and implementing a strategy, and some of the grantees may benefit from hearing about it. Here’s what that would entail if you’re able to participate:
- Share your challenge and strategy you developed.
- What data will you collect? What are you hoping to learn from the road test?
- Share any thoughts you have about the road testing process.
- The group will share their efforts with the cross-grantee call
