  • Biweekly Call Questions and Comments
    • General comments
      • It seems like the organization believes they will stick to a virtual format for a while.
      • From Shanta, the breakout sessions were very engaging and a nice change. Lisa thinks they are great because she can learn about what other groups are doing.
    • Mural
      • A very popular choice within the organization. They have decided to employ Mural into their current programming.
      • Side note: they requested information on possible trainings for the program.
  • Curriculum
    • Have they done any modifications for virtual? Have they reached out to the creator of the curriculum?
      • They have reached out to some TAs about modifying for virtual. The TAs gave them a tip sheet but nothing else aside from that.
      • No official guidance on how to modify, so they have been just adding things to it (games, apps, etc.)
    • Adding games/apps for engagement purposes
      • Some of these games do not add engagement because they could be activities like simple statements, true or false, etc. Activities that do not promote discussion or further engagement.
      • Their games required movement and physical acts which is hard to convert to virtual.
  • Engagement Between Middle/High School Groups
    • High School
      • Very good with technology
      • Not as engaged – only few people speak up. Rest do not contribute much.
      • Kahoot is mixed. Need more incentives for the group to contribute.
    • Middle School
      • More excited and engaged – this is the first time they are seeing the material.
      • Not as tech savvy
      • Kahoot works very well
  • Engagement Measures
    • It’s been difficult to measure engagement within virtual settings. It’s easier in person to measure engagement levels compared to watching a screen.
    • We need to come up with a baseline measure for their current levels of engagement.
  • Action Items
    • Develop survey materials for measuring baseline engagement
      • Their current survey measures other variables and does not focus on engagement
    • For Rob: See if there are any alternatives to Kahoot that allows for better engagement and animations
