Toolkit Resources for Implementation Evaluations

SRAE grant recipients can use an implementation evaluation (which is sometimes called a process evaluation) to study how they delivered their program activities. For example, they can assess whether program facilitators implemented the program as intended with high quality; whether youth received the expected dosage; or whether outside events, policies, or programs affected program implementation. The findings from an implementation evaluation can help identify areas for improvement and provide useful context for the findings from an outcome or impact evaluation.

For more information on implementation evaluations, see this overview webinar.

The SRAENE team developed three toolkits that provide resources to help SRAE grant recipients design and conduct high-quality implementation evaluations. The video on this page includes an overview of the toolkits, and below it, there are links to each toolkit.

  • Tool | May 2023
This toolkit covers topics relevant to grant recipients as they prepare to conduct an implementation evaluation. The topics include developing an evaluation plan, identifying research questions and data sources, obtaining institutional review board (IRB) approval, building staff buy-in for evaluation activities, and identifying procedures for managing and storing data.
  • Tool | May 2023
This toolkit covers topics relevant to grant recipients as they begin to collect data for their implementation evaluations. Grant recipients can collect data for an implementation evaluation through focus groups, interviews, fidelity logs, surveys, and observations.
  • Tool | May 2023
This toolkit covers topics relevant to grant recipients as they analyze their collected data, identify findings, and report their findings.
