Local evaluations contribute to the evidence base about SRAE programming. SRAE grant recipients can conduct descriptive evaluations, impact evaluations, or comprehensive needs assessments. Find technical assistance resources to support high-quality evaluations below.
Descriptive Evaluation
SRAE grant recipients can use descriptive evaluation to describe and document what happens in their programs. Descriptive evaluation activities can include assessing program implementation, pre-post changes in youth outcomes, longer-term change in youth outcomes, or correlations between youth or program characteristics and outcomes. These resources can support grant recipients and their evaluators conducting or interested in a local descriptive evaluation.
Implementation Evaluation
These resources can support SRAE grant recipients conducting an implementation evaluation (sometimes called a process evaluation) to study how they delivered their program activities. For example, they can assess whether program facilitators implemented the program as intended with high quality; whether youth received the expected dosage; or whether outside events, policies, or programs affected program implementation. These resources emerged from a pilot of three grant recipients who were conducting implementation evaluations, who received support using the tools and informed refinements.
