WestCare requested info on how to effectively survey students. Students do not like the environment (stuffy gym) that the program is being held in and WestCare is concerned that the poor environment will lead to overwhelming negative responses that are not related to things they can control. SPR/ Mathematica shared information on recruitment benchmarking.
WestCare has not selected one strategy to focus on yet. They are interested in strategies to increase either enrollment or engagement.
WestCare completed table C1 in the CQI template. Westcare indicated a need to focus on enhancing virtual workshops, summer camps, holiday events, etc. They are currently at a school site that has allowed them to come in and recruit. Schools on the island have only 2 days of face-to-face (F2F) a week and each day are different cohorts.
WestCare requested info on recruitment benchmarking and how many participants a program should aim to recruit in order to reach your target completion numbers.
Initial meeting focused on introductions, getting familiar with the grantee/ operations, and finalizing the problem statement.
WestCare:
Only one staff member from FLON was able to attend. Team decided to reschedule call.
Mathematica sent a follow up email to FLON requesting availability to meet next week.
We planned a R,B,T activity to learn more about what is working well in developing partnerships and what the challenges are, as our team was hoping to learn more about this challenge (during the kickoff, we discussed virtual engagement, but this didn't seem like a big challenge for them, so we decided to focus on their other challenge, which was partnership development). The team wanted to have an open discussion instead, where Dr. Clemons shared her vision for a community saturation plan for FLON.
FLON talked about their desire to expand outreach in KC; they used to have a strong presence in the community and want to build it up again using additional outreach methods (beyond radio ads and events). Our team discussed the importance of understanding the landscape of provider they could partner with and suggested a stakeholder mapping activity; FLON wasn't as familiar with the partners, so wanted to explore options first. We suggested they follow the social media of potential partners to learn about how these organizations use social media.
FLON provided context about their outreach challenge. Our team suggested it might help to do informational interviews with a few willing potential partners to learn about opportunities with KC community organizations and inform their outreach messaging. Were going to brainstorm questions but call turned into more of a discussion about what they have done and would like to do to develop additional partnerships.
